For Immediate Release July 5, 2017

What began as few members of Trophy Club Country Club discussing ideas on how to assist wounded military veterans and their families has grown into a charity that will have donated over $1 million dollars to support their causes in seven years.

Honoring Our Wounded Military is a 501(c)3 charity that began seven years ago as Trophy Club Salutes our Wounded Warriors. Kevin Sweeney, President of the Board and retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel said, “We felt that we needed to expand our reach beyond Trophy Club to grow the organization, so we changed the name two years ago to align better with our mission. I am honored to serve on this Board, which is 100% volunteer, and support those who have given so much to protect our freedom”. “Our Board is made up of residents of Southlake, Keller and Trophy Club and we work hard to ensure 100% of personal and corporate donations go to the charities we support. Texas Sentinels Foundation, Semper Fi Fund were our two initial charities and this year we added Patriot Anglers and 22 Kill to the organizations we support”. “This is accomplished by ensuring all our costs for our events are covered by registration fees and proceeds from the live and silent auctions and raffle ticket sales.”

Tom Dillard, Vice President of the Board said, “We just saw a tremendous need to do more to provide assistance for Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and by supporting Patriot Anglers and 22 Kill we can now do that. Often the mental scars from serving in combat are deeper and take longer to heal than the physical scars and we wanted to ensure that our veterans have access to services that support the mental health side of the equation”.  “By putting on our annual gala, run and golf tournament we can continue to provide funds to get the services so needed by the men and women who have served in all branches of our military.

This year’s Gala is on August 25, 2017 at the Marriott Solona in Westlake and features a full dinner, open bar and live and silent auctions.  Entertainment will be by “Le Freak”, an 80’s cover band. The golf tournament will be at Trophy Club Country Club and 5/10K run will be on August 26, 2017 in Trophy Club. “Both the gala and golf tournament are sure to sell out so plan ahead and register early”, said Tom. There is also a raffle for a 7 day trip to St. Thomas valued at over $12,000, a street ready golf cart valued at $5,000 and $1,000 gift card. The drawing will be held at the gala on August 25th. Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100 and are limited to 2,000 tickets.
