Kevin Sweeney is a retired USAF and Air National Guard pilot who attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross along with numerous other awards and decorations. He is a veteran of both Viet Nam and Desert Storm.
In his professional business career he was an Executive for a Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 company. In his younger days, Kevin was an all-conference athlete. He holds two Bachelor’s degrees and a Master’s degree.
Kevin joined the board in April 2012 as Chief Volunteer Officer and President
Tom Dillard has been in the technology business for the past 24 years. He has worked in various executive sales and sales management roles with several large companies as well as seeing a start-up through to a successful IPO. Tom is an avid golfer as well as a passionate supporter of our troops and their families. Tom is a founding member of the board.
Tom graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas. He and his wife Candace live in Trophy Club.
Ron is a financial executive in the alcohol beverage industry for the past 24 years. He currently works with one of the industry leaders, representing global brands. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting/Finance from the University of Windsor as well as an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University in Detroit.
Ron was born in Scotland, raised in Canada and has been a permanent resident of the US for the past 15 years. He now resides in Keller, TX with his wife Tracy and is an active member of Trophy Club Country Club. Ron joined the board of director’s spring of 2014.
Debbie Abelson served in the Marine Corps active duty from 1975 thru 1979, and served in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Sergeant of Marines from 1979 thru 1981. She has volunteered for many years in Marine Corps Family Readiness Programs, which help family members learn how to live and understand the military lifestyle. Over the last five years she has traveled to over 50 Marine Corps Reserve bases throughout the United States, to teach Marine Corps Reserve Program – LINKS. She has also been actively involved with Snowball Express for the last six years.
Debbie was a volunteer for the first year’s event and joined the board in spring 2012 as the Secretary. She is married to Mark, who retired as a Major serving in the Marine Corps, for 23 years. They have three sons. One son is currently on active duty in the Marine Corps.
Candace Dillard has been involved with H.O.W.M. for 8 years and serves as the Auction Chairperson . She is a native of Dallas, Texas where she ran a successful estate sale business for 15 years. She also is a domestic violence counselor and was the liaison for Family Place and the Dallas Police Department, educating officers and organizations on the components surrounding abuse.
Candace moved to Trophy Club in 2010 and was Stephen Minister Leader ( Christian based counseling) at FUMC . Candace is married to Tommy Dillard and their blended family is blessed with 2 daughters, a son and 3 grandchildren.
Steve is a resident of Trophy Club, Texas and retired in 2013 after a 33 year career with a number of companies under the Verizon umbrella. He managed Sales and Marketing Organizations in Boston, New Jersey, Virginia, the Czech Republic and Texas. Steve’s father and uncles served in the military and Steve is a passionate supporter of our cause.
His wife of 30 years, Teri, also volunteers with HOWM. They have two sons in New York and San Francisco. Steve serves as the Golf Tournament Chairman.
Sonny Rath is the CEO of GRID365 a Cloud Computing and Services company. With a career spanning more the 20 years, in the Telecommunications and Technology space, Sonny has been in leadership roles with companies like Verizon, and Qwest. As well as being a frequent speaker at industry and government events, he engages with key political and business leaders, advising them on transformational agendas to turn major economic and societal challenges into opportunities. A serial entrepreneur, Sonny sits on the board of several domestic and international companies.
Sonny is actively involved with several Dallas area charities. He is a avid supporter of Junior Achievement and has been teaching their programs for many years. He is also active with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County. Sonny lives in the Dallas area and has been part of of this organization since it was founded.
Walt Asbury recently retired after a long career in the retail industry, of which the last 18 years with Michaels Arts and Crafts based in Irving. At Michaels Walt held several senior leadership positions including President of Michaels Canada. He has recently became a mentor in the Texas juvenile justice department, and is passionate about helping people in need.
Walt and his wife Sharon have been married 33 years and have 2 daughters and a son. Their son Samuel returned recently from Germany after serving 4 years in the United States Army.
Robert is an experienced public safety professional, having served 24 years with the City of Southlake, Department of Public Safety in a variety of roles during his career. He is a certified Police Officer, Firefighter and Paramedic in the State of Texas and led the City of Southlake as both its Chief of Police and Fire Chief prior to retiring in 2011. Robert currently serves as a Senior Manager with the Matrix Consulting Group where he leads the Public Safety consulting practice. This practice focuses on providing agencies with high quality consulting services to improve agency operations through efficiencies and effectiveness.
Robert holds a BS in Public Safety Administration and an Executive MBA from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Robert has received numerous awards throughout his career for both his professional and charitable work. These awards include “Citizen of the Year” from the Southlake Chamber of Commerce and “Rotarian of the Year” from the Southlake Rotary Club. He lives in Keller, Texas with his wife Monica and two children.
With 30 years of experience, Lynn Bond is a veteran of operations and supply chain functions for the consumer package goods and telecommunications industries.
Lynn began his career at Customer Build Products where he was responsible for production control and systems engineering. He then began a twelve-year tenure at Nokia where he was responsible for supply chain re-engineering and systems development for North and South America. During that time, Nokia was ranked as the No. 2 supply chain in the world by AMR.
Before founding Bond Group, Lynn served as the vice president and general manager of the service and operations division at Samsung Telecommunications America. Under his leadership, his division achieved the first and second place positions in service ranking with all major carriers. In the same year, their AMR supply chain ranking rose to seventh place in the world.
